How do I install and configure Greymatter blogging on my website?

To install Greymatter Blogging to your website, please follow these steps:

A. Download Greymatter
1. Download Greymatter from http://www.greymatterforums.com/download/
2. Unzip the package

B. Install and Set File Permissions
3. Using an FTP client (eg. Filezilla) upload all .cgi files to the /cgi-bin directory in your Netfirms FTP account
4. Create a directory on your FTP account under /www called greymatter
5. CHMOD (configure file attributes) the /www/greymatter directory to 777
6. Using an FTP client (eg. Filezilla) upload the rest of the files to /www/greymatter
7. CHMOD (configure file attributes) the files "gm.cgi", "gm-karma.cgi", "gm-comments.cgi", and "gm-upload.cgi" to 755 permissions
8. CHMOD (configure file attributes) all the other .cgi files to 666 permissions (except gm-library.cgi. DO NOT change the permissions on gm-library.cgi)
9. Upload index.html and gm-icon.gif to /www/greymatter
10. CHMOD (configure file attributes) the index.html file to 666 permissions.

C. Configure settings
11. Open your Web browser and run gm.cgi on your site by browsing to http://membername.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/gm.cgi (where membername is the username assigned to your account)
12. Log on with the default author name "Alice", and the password "wonderland".
13. Click Configuration
14. Configure the following

NOTE: To find your document root browse to membername.netfirms.com/cgi/printenv and look for the DOCUMENT_ROOT value (where membername is the username assigned to your account):

Local Log Path: $ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/www/greytmatter
(eg. /mnt/web_i/d07/s20/a000tu8p/www/greymatter)

Local Entries/Archives Path: $ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/www/greytmatter
(eg. /mnt/web_i/d07/s20/a000tu8p/www/greymatter)

Local CGI Path: $ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/cgi-bin
(eg. /mnt/web_i/d07/s20/a000tu8p/cgi-bin)

Website Log Path: http://membername.netfirms.com/cgi-bin
(where membername is the username assigned to your account)

Website Entries Path: http://membername.netfirms.com/www/greymatter
(where membername is the username assigned to your account)

Website CGI Path: http://membername.netfirms.com/cgi-bin
(where membername is the username assigned to your account)

Emoticons Path:$ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/www/greymatter
(eg. /mnt/web_i/d07/s20/a000tu8p/www/greymatter)

Browse to http://membername.netfirms.com/greymatter (where membername is your Netfirms membername assigned to you in your Netfirms Welcome Letter)
