How do I make a backup copy of my NetObjects website?

To create a local backup of your NetObjects website, follow the instructions below to download the main site files/folders using FTP:

The general Net Objects site files/folders to download are listed below:

- assets (folder)
- html (folder)
- index.html (file)
- *.css (any .css files in the site directory)
- *.gif / *.jpeg (any net objects used images)

To download your site files, we suggest that you try using a FTP client such as FileZilla.

We recommend that you try using FileZilla, which can be downloaded for free from http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/.

1. Click on Download link on left hand side menus.
2. Select to download the latest version of the FileZilla "setup.exe".
3. Select the continent you want to download from.
4. Once downloaded, run the setup.exe file and install FileZilla on to
your computer.

For instructions on how to upload files using FileZilla , please visit http://www.netfirms.com/support and do a keyword search on "Filezilla".

To watch a demo on how to "upload" your web pages to Netfirms using FileZilla client, please browse here:

To download files, the instructions are the opposite of the upload, whereby you would be moving files from the right-side(remote site) to the left-side(local site).

After you download your site files from the server(index.html/assets/html) to a specific directory on your computer, follow steps below to import the existing site to generate a new .nod file
from it.

1. Open NetObjects.
2. Click on File > New Site > From Existing Web Site...
3. Choose "Local"
4. Then browse to the location of the backup you have downloaded.
5. Then choose to open the "index.html" file.
6. Then choose a location to save your "new" .nod file

This should generate a new .nod file from the website files you had downloaded.
