How do I transfer my Domain Registrar to Netfirms?

Your domain is eligible to be registrar transfered to Netfirms from your current registrar if it:

.COM, .NET, .ORG, .ASIA
  • Has been registered for at least 60 days or not transfered within the last 60 days.
  • The WHOIS record for the domain contains a valid admin email address that is accessible by the individual initiating the transfer.

.CA
  • Has been registered/active for at least 30 days and not within 30 days of expiry
  • The WHOIS record for the domain contains a valid admin email address that is accessible by the individual initiating the transfer.

.CO.UK
  • The Netfirms Nominet IPS Tag (NETFIRMSINC-CA) should be given to the losing registrar.

For ICANN transfer policy, refer to their website: http://www.icann.org/en/transfers/policy-en.htm

All TLD's (except for .co.uk) involved in a registrar transfer will incur a one year renewal fee as the transfer will require an extension of the domain's renewal term in order for the transfer to complete.

SUMMARY OF STEPS:

1. Do a WHOIS on your domain to make sure your domain is unlocked and administrative contact email address is current
2. Obtain your domain's authorization code from your current registrar (this step not required for .ca domains but .ca domain owners will requrie their CIRA profile login/password)
3. Initiate registrar transfer from your Netfirms Control Panel
4. Within 24 hours, an email containing a confirmation code will be delivered to your administrative contact email address. Input the confirmation key along with authorization code from your current registrar into your Netfirms Control Panel (this step not required for .ca domains)
