If you have just registered a new .ca domain name, your domain status in your Control Panel or in a WHOIS query of the domain may indicate: "Awaiting Registrant (the user) verification." To finalize the new .ca registration, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) requires you to confirm your domain registration within 5 days. You may:

Option #1
1. Log into your Netfirms Control Panel at https://controlpanel.netfirms.com
2. Click Domains
3. Click Domain Manager
4. For the .ca domain you wish to finalize the registration, click the plus sign to the left of the domain
5. Follow the onscreen prompts to confirm your .ca registration

Option #2

Check your email (the one you used to register your .ca domain) and look for an email from CIRA and follow their instructions.

IMPORTANT: CIRA will automatically cancel any new .ca domain registration if the domain is not confirmed within the prescribed time or if the Registrant Name does not posses the correct syntax/format for the Legal Type. Should your .ca domain registration failed and become cancelled, Netfirms will not accept your payment. At this point, we recommend logging into your existing Netfirms Control Panel and re-registering your .CA domain name through there. This can be done by following these steps:

1. Login to Netfirms Members Control Panel at https://controlpanel.netfirms.com
2. Click Domains
3. Click Domain Manager
4. Click Add
5. Enter the domain you wish to re-register
6. Choose a registration term and click Continue
7. Follow the onscreen prompts to register you domain

Once you have re-registered your .CA domain, CIRA will automatically send you instructions on how to verify your registration. You are also able to verify your registration through the Netfirms Control Panel. Once our billing department has validated your order, you can verify your registration by following these steps:

1. Log into your Netfirms Control Panel at https://controlpanel.netfirms.com
2. Click Domains
3. Click Domain Manager
4. For the .ca domain you wish to finalize the registration, click the plus sign to the left of the domain
5. Follow the onscreen prompts to confirm your .ca registration

This will create a popup window directing you to the CIRA website where you can verify your registration. This is an easy 5 step process which simply consists of making sure that your information is accurate. CIRA does this to ensure that you are a legal Canadian entity when registering a .CA domain name.

We recommend that when you get to step 4 asking for Change Without Registrant Authorization (CWA), that you select 'Yes'. This will allow you to make any DNS changes through the Netfirms control panel without having to confirm every change through your CIRA profile as well.
