Why can't I see my Website?

For your site to be visible on the Internet:

1. Your Domain Must Be Hosted at Netfirms and Fully Propagated

Your domain must be fully registered and pointing to Netfirms nameservers (ns1.netfirms.com and ns2.netfirms.com). If you recently registered your domain name with Netfirms, then your domain is automatically set to point to the Netfirms nameservers.
For instructions on how to transfer your domain to Netfirms and point the domain to Netfirms, refer to the following: http://support.netfirms.com/article.php?id=032 .

IMPORTANT: After registering your domain and/or pointing your domain to Netfirms nameservers, please allow up to 72 hours (standard propagation time) for your domain to fully propagate throughout the Internet. During propagation, your website will be accessible by browing to http://membername.netfirms.com. After propagation has completed, your website will be viewable at http://www.yourdomain.com

2. Your Homepage Must Be Uploaded To The Proper Location On Your Web Account

Ensure that your homepage is named index.htm. The index.htm page should be uploaded into an area within your www directory. For instance, if yourdomain.com is being forwarded to your /www/yourdomain.com/ folder, then place your index.htm inside /www/yourdomain.com/. This will overwrite our default index.htm file and as a result, your homepage will be visible.

To rename your homepage to "index.htm " follow the instructions below:

For FrontPage, Dreamweaver or other hand-coded websites:

1. On your local machine find your main homepage file
2. Make a copy of your current homepage and call it index.htm
3. Then you will need to re-upload it using your FTP client (eg. Filezilla, Netfirms File Manager) or publishing tool (eg. FrontPage, Dreamweaver).
4. Once the upload is finished you will be able to see your site

For NetOjbects users:

1. Click on the Publish Site button
2. Click on the
Pencil icon
3. Beside the Profile Name, click on the Advanced button
4. Under the File Naming tab, ensure that both the 'Index' and '.html' are selected as shown below

5. Re-publish your site
