Setting Up Your Google Apps Email Address

The very first email address that you create with Google Apps will be assigned a username of admin. As this is the main account to manage Google Apps the username cannot be changed. Google Apps gives you the ability to create nicknames or aliases for your accounts. The total number of nicknames you can create for your domain is ten times the number of user accounts. Additionally, the maximum number of nicknames for one user account is 30, but the total number of nicknames for your domain doesn't allow every user account to have 30 nicknames.

Wherever you see text that is highlighted it means you should replace it with your actual domain name or user information.

Configure Nickname

  1. Log in to your Google Apps account via http://google.com/a/domain.com or using the Admin link inside your Netfirms Control Panel on the Google Apps page.
  2. Click on the Users and Groups settings at the top and locate the account in the list and click on it.
  3. Once inside, scroll down and locate the section labeled, Nicknames and click the button labeled, Add a Nickname and enter in your desired alternative email address.
  4. Complete. You may now begin using this alternative email address to receive mail. Please note that the login details for your email account remain unchanged. If the username on the account was admin then continue logging in with admin.
You may also watch the following short 30 second video for a walk-through on adding nicknames.
