Here is how to manage your .CA domain:
Change Name Servers
Changing
the name servers listed for your .CA domain dictates what company hosts
your website. To change the name servers, follow the DNS Transfer steps
here.
CIRA Account Login
To perform any other administrative action on a .CA domain name, the registrant is required to log
in to their CIRA profile and provide manual confirmation.
- Only the registrant of the domain has the CIRA username and
password.
- At the time of registration that information is emailed out
to the client directly (the registrar (Netfirms) is not copied on
that email).
Change Without Approval (CWA)
- By default all profiles regardless of what is chosen at the time of
signup, will have CWA (chage without authority) set to NONE.
- The
registrant will have to manually choose to turn this feature on when
they log in to their CIRA profile.
Manual Change of Administrative Contact Email (MCACE)
- If a registrant loses their login details for CIRA, an MCACE is not required as we have the
ability to resend it only to the administrative contact email address
listed within CIRA for that registrant.
- But if the registrant (i) loses the CIRA login details, (ii) does not have
access to the email address that is listed with CIRA to receive the
login details, and (iii) CWA=NO, then an MCACE (Manual Change of Administartive Contact
Email) must be filled out and submitted back to Netfirms which we then
send off to CIRA for approval. If approved CIRA updates the email
address and sends it out. To complete the MCAC process, follow the steps here.
CIRA Profiles
- When a registrant registers a new .CA domain, the .CA domain is registered to a new or existing CIRA profile.
- Registrants are not allowed to have duplicate profiles.
- All domains
belonging to a registrant should be added to the existing profile if
there is one.
- Registrants can access their CIRA profile by logging in at https://registrants.cira.ca/user
Privacy
- All domain names registered as an Individual (ie. citizen, permanent
resident, Aboriginal Peoples indigenous to Canada, etc.) have automatic WHOIS privacy protection.
- Corporations and other similar registrant types must request privacy
from CIRA and it is given out on a per case basis.
- For instructions on how to enable/Disable privacy, refer to the .ca section here.
Municipal/Provincial Level .CA Domains
- Registration of municipal , and provincial level domains must be specially requested via support@netfirms.com.
- For eligibility requirements, click here.
Registrar Transfer and Registrant Name Changes
- Registrar transfers and registrant name changes are given a window
of 15 days to be completed. If not completed within that timeframe the
process is automatically canceled and reversed.
