What is Direct Linking?

Direct linking is the act of using another individuals website and/or server to link to a file as opposed to saving the file and referencing it on your own server space.

Because you are accessing another person’s server, the result is an increased amount of unnecessary bandwidth for the other individual.

This practice is sometimes referred to as "bandwidth theft".
